- On or about 09 July 2008, this office will issue Invitations for Bid for construction of the L611-614 Levee Drainage Structure Replacement, Pony Creek, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. The solicitation will close on or about 08 August 2008. This solicitation is UNRESTRICTED AND OPEN TO BOTH LARGE AND SMALL BUSINESS PARTICIPATION. A site visit is scheduled for Thursday, 24 July 2008. Contractors interested in attending the site visit need to make reservations with Steve Rasmussen, Fort Crook Area Office 402-293-2511. The Contractors shall meet at 9:00 AM at where Pony Creek meets 192nd Street, as shown on the drawings. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Obtaining Solicitation Documents below. Project Description: (Approx. quantities) The project involves replacement of eight interior drainage structures (at five locations) on a Federal levee. The current structures are CMP and will be replaced with RCP ranging diameter from 30 inches to 72 inches. Each structure includes a gate well, sluice gate and hand operated gate hoist, and a flap gate. Each location will require a temporary ring levee on the landward side for flood protection during excavation. Each site involves approximately 6000 cu yds of excavation. It is anticipated that there will 120 days of construction time during Fall 2008 and 120 days during Spring 2009. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $1,000,000 and $2,500,000. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work within the time stated above (Project Description) after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety. Representations and certifications are required to be updated annually as a minimum to keep information current, accurate and complete. The electronic annual representations and certifications are effective until one year from date of submission or update to ORCA.
