- Description
- The objective of this project is to demonstrate the EFFECTIVENESS OF ISLAND/ BERMS IN PROVIDING EROSION PROTECTION to the upstream slope of the earth embankment at Lock & Dam 4, while at the same time improving aquatic and terrestrial habitat conditions along the embankment. The Contractor will obtain fine material from the bottom of Clear Lake just downstream of the earth embankment at Lock & Dam 4, transport the fine material to the two sand berms on the upstream slope of the earth embankment, dewater and dry the fine material sufficiently for use as topsoil, then distribute the topsoil on the two sand berms to form a cap six inches thick. The contractor will then plant an annual cover crop of oats. This procurement is issued unrestricted under the SMALL BUSINESS COMPETITIVE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM (Public Law 100-66). The North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) Code is 237990. The estimated magnitude of this requirement in terms of physical characteristics and estimated price is between $250,000 and 500,000.
