Description
AE Scope of Work - Surgery Renovation and Expansion Work will provide two new O.R.s designed for orthopedic and other major surgery along with associated support rooms. The new O.R.s are to be built next to existing changing room and onto roof area above lab (approximately 2000 sf). The new space will require new HVAC units to support the new O.R.s designed per VA standards with 100% outside air through HEPA filters and all necessary temperature and humidity control. Any necessary structural work to support the new space will be included. Project will renovate existing space occupied by two smaller O.R.s for additional recovery beds and will provide necessary outpatient surgery support space. The project will be designed so that it can be constructed in phases (separate projects) of approximately $750,000 each. The AE will meet with Surgery staff and develop initial space plan and cost estimate (15% submission). Additional submissions will be at 50% design submission, and a 95% design submission. The Medical Center must remain operational throughout the construction period and a detailed sequence of work will be provided by the AE to minimize impact of the construction. Work inside the surgical area will require detailed dust control and work coordination in order to not disrupt ongoing surgery. The A.E. will use VA design guides, details, and specifications. The AE will provide four sets of documents at each submission including a cost estimate and will provide a set of AutoCAD drawings and specs in Microsoft Word at the final submission. The AE will provide 15 sets of drawings and specifications for procurement.
