- The Bureau of Reclamation, Boulder City Regional office, Boulder City Nevada, intends to award on a sole source basis a purchase order to the University of Arizona, 888 N. Euclid Ave, Tuscon, AZ 85721-0001 for final reports and facts sheets from research conducted under Grant 04-FG-32-0260. This requirement is a continuation of an ongoing collaborative project with US Bureau of Reclamation, titled Enhancing Water Supply Reliability Through Improved Predictive Capacity And Response.Specific deliverables are:- A final report of findings on project work completed by the end of this contract focusing on the major findings in each of the general areas of work. The final report will include a summary of key findings from all manuscripts and presentations, and copies of all presentations and manuscripts produced by the project team to date. - A fact sheet for public purposes on drought and climate impacts on the Colorado. - Collaborate with the Bureau of Reclamation Lower Colorado and Upper Colorado offices to develop Steering Committee recommendations and detail accomplishments by completion of contract. To the extent possible, meetings will be held to discuss approaches that will optimize work currently underway in the context of work undertaken by Upper Basin researchers.Project Summary of Work: This project further develops research partnerships and extends four prior years of work on a multi-pronged approach to preparing for and responding to variable Colorado River supply reliability in Arizona. General areas of work include: a) demonstrating potential strategies for enhanced use of climate information in Bureau of Reclamation river system modeling and river operations including use of paleoclimatology, climate forecasts and climate change predictions to improve predictive capacity/reduce system vulnerability for the Colorado River system broadly, with particular focus on the lower basin and the Central Arizona Project (CAP); b) evaluating specific management tools designed to translate improved predictive capacity into enhanced supply reliability for water users, including tools that can be used by federal and state agencies, municipalities, irrigation districts, tribes and other stakeholders; and c) engaging with other research groups and key stakeholders to tailor research foci, approach and findings for applications of interest to Reclamation. Anticipated award date: June 16th, 2008.
