- Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army, RDECOM, Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army Soldier System Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a purchase order to DSM Research of the Netherlands. DSM Research is the sole manufacturer of the vertical microcompounder DSM Xplore which is the only microcompounder that meets the Governments requirements, as it is the only microcompounder to have the salient characteristics required. The required characteristics consist of a vertical 15cm3 twin-screw micro-compounder and a 12 cc laboratory injection-moulding machine, an underlying material with a hardness of over 60 HRC and a surface hardness of 2000 HRV with the capability to withstand corrosive materials up to 400 degrees Celsius, vari-batch multi-capacity and screw options. These characteristics are required for compatibility with various existing DoD applications. All of these capabilities are only available on the DSM Xplore unit. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that determines it can meet the requirements may give written notice to the Contract Specialist within ten (10) calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Responses will be evaluated; however, a determination by the government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. This synopsis expires 13 June 2008 at 10:00 EST.
