Description
On each project the Contractor shall be responsible for providing all labor, tools, material and equipment necessary to perform all work in strict accordance with the specifications and drawings. Payment for the contract work will be made only for and under those pay items included in the Schedule of Items. All other work and materials will be considered as incidental to and included in the payment for the items shown. 1. This project consists of applying a single layer bituminous chip seal to a 8.55 mile long segment of Forest Road 13, which is a double lane road with an existing asphalt paved surface 24 feet wide. The road surface will be broomed by the Forest Service prior to the contractor placing the chip seal. The asphalt emulsion to be used for this project is CRS-2. The aggregate for the project is government furnished material that is stockpiled at the Halfway rock pit, located 18.5 miles from the middle of the project. The rock will be hauled by the contractor in conventional end dump trucks with or without tag axles in loads that do not exceed Oregon Department of Transportation legal load limits for those vehicles. The design application rates for this project are 0.42 gallons/square/yard of emulsion and 23 pounds/square/yard of aggregate. 2. This project consists of applying a double layer bituminous chip seal to a 6.92 mile long segment of Forest Road 41, which is a double lane road with an existing asphalt paved surface 24 feet wide. The road surface will be broomed by the Forest Service prior to the contractor placing the chip seal. The contractor will be required to apply a fog seal to the road surface in designated areas that have been recently patched (Spec. 409.05), prior to placement of the chip seal layers. The asphalt emulsion to be used for the chip seal layers is HFRS-P1. The aggregate for the project is government furnished material that is stockpiled at the Wickiup rock pit, located 14.0 miles from the middle of the project. The rock will be hauled by the contractor, in any vehicles that do not exceed Oregon Department of Transportation legal load limits. The design application rate for the first chip seal layer is 0.42 gallons/square/yard of emulsion and 19 pounds/square/yard of aggregate. The design application rate for the second chip seal layer is 0.16 gallons/square/yard of emulsion and 10 pounds/square/yard of aggregate. This project will upload as a solicitation on or about June 11, 2008. The Government estimate for this project is between $250,000.00 and $500,000.00. This project is 100% HubZone set aside.

Address: 1. The project is located on the Prairie City Ranger District of the Malheur National Forest, about 20 miles south east of Prairie City, Oregon. It can be accessed by turning south from US Highway 26 in Prairie City onto Grant County Road 62, an continuing southeast on Road 62 for approximately 8 miles, and then turning southeast on Forest Road 13 and continuing for 8 miles to the beginning of the project., 2. This project is located on the Emigrant Ranger District of the Malheur National Forest, about 15 miles from Burns, Oregon. To access the site turn northwest from US Highway 20 onto Harney County Road 127 southwest of Burns and continue on Road 127 for approximately 15 miles to the junction between Road 127 and Forest Road 41, which is the beginning of the project., PRAIRIE CITY, Oregon, 97869, United States
