Description
NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotations (NNG08251669Q) for the followingCommercial item/services: One (1) EACH of an upgrade to an existing working 10-tonbridge crane located inside Bldg. F-10, Environmental Lab, at Wallops Flight Facility. The crane manufacturer is CONCO. The upgrade shall modify this crane by replacingcontrollers and motors for variable speed (primarily slow precision work) and shallupgrade crane features and components to meet the entire critical crane requirementslisted in the NASA-STD-8719.9.This modified crane shall be considered a "CriticalLifting Device" and all upgrades and documentation shall be provided to ensure fullcompliance with the critical crane requirements per NASA-STD-8719.9. The contractorshall be required to show familiarity with the NASA lifting standards (NASA-STD-8719.9)including the Critical Life and FMEA (Safety Analysis)aspects by pre-qualification beforecontract award or by past performance in this type of work over the past 5 years. Asite visit is required as well as submittal drawings and cut sheets of components. Thecrane shall be inspected by NASA to insure final product meets the NASA Standard,Specifications listed by the Government for this procurement and is tagged as "operable." The contractor shall work with NASA project managers on schedules to ensure crane is nottaken out of commission at times it would affect mission capabilities.All work shall bein accordance with the Specification included with the solicitation. A completestatement of work will be included with the solicitation package. This procurement is atotal small business set-aside. See Note 1.The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 333923 and 500 employees, respectively. The anticipated release date of RFQ NNG08251669Q is on or about June 9, 2008 with an anticipated quotation due date of on or about June 23, 2008. An ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note B. All contractual and technical questions must be submitted in writing (e-mail or FAX) toJoan L. Murden not later than June 9, 2008. Telephone questions will not be accepted.
