Description
The government is seeking sources for the installation of remote controlled, solar-powered beacons for use on the live fire small arms ranges located at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma AZ. The beacons will be used as visual markers to indicate when live firing can commence and when it must cease during convoy training. A total of 10 beacons are required. The contractor will be required to fabricate and install the beacons on poles at points designated by government range safety experts. The beacon must be self-contained and require no outside electric power. The battery must be of sufficient quality to accept a solar charge and allow the light to function for a minimum of 18 hours. The visual signal must be visible from a distance of 1000 meters during daylight hours using LED technology. Solar modules must be integral to the beacon so as to collect solar power from all angles. The beacon must be totally weatherproof. Mounting poles must be of a height of at least 12 feet and should be mounted in steel pipe sleeves buried vertically in the ground to permit removal and servicing. The beacons must be able to be activated and de-activated by remote control from a distance of 1500 meters. Each beacon must have a unique activation frequency to preclude activating the wrong beacon. The award will be approximately $15,000 with an anticipated delivery date of 90 days after contract award. This request for proposal in no way implies either implicitly or explicitly that respondents will be compensated in any way by the US Government for information or materials provided. It should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the US Government to issue a solicitation. Any information provided to the Government in response to this RFI will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. Written response is requested within 15 days after publication of this notice. No phone calls will be accepted.
