- Description
- The Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory(NETL) cordially invites interested parties to attend an Open House for potential offerors on the follow-on solicitation(s) for NETLs Research and Development Support and Technology and Management Support contracts. The intent of this Open House is to encourage full and open competition resulting in the best value for NETL. The Open House is scheduled for June 4th and 5th, 2008. Opening remarks and a tour of NETLs Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania site will be held on June 4th, and a tour of NETLs Morgantown, West Virginia site will be held on June 5th. The June 5th activities will also include a video presentation of NETLs Albany, Oregon site. The NETL is one of three Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories that address the marketplace challenges of meeting our nations energy demands. NETL is unique among DOE national laboratories in both its mission and its approach to achieving that mission. The laboratory is federally owned and operated, a departure from the contractor-operated model that is the norm within the DOE laboratory system. As the only laboratory with fossil energy as its principal focus, NETL applies basic science and engineering to resolve the environmental, supply, and reliability constraints of producing and using fossil resources. Our onsite researchers solve complex problems in energy system dynamics, geologic and environmental challenges, advanced materials and processes, and computational and basic sciences. NETL seeks solutions to a wide range of energy challenges through these follow-on contracts. In addition to conducting cutting-edge research and technology development on site, NETL shapes, funds, and manages contracted research in the United States and more than 40 foreign countries. Our research portfolio includes more than 1,800 projects, with a total award value of over $9 billion and private sector cost-sharing of over $5 billion. These projects are carried out through various contractual arrangements including the aforementioned site support contracts which NETL will soon be recompeting. The Open House is not a pre-solicitation conference and attendance is not mandatory. The Open House is only a tour of the facility to familiarize potential offerors with the breadth of work being conducted at NETL. All questions that arise during the Open House must be submitted in writing in accordance with the instructions listed in the FEDBIZOPPS announcement. As part of the strategy to provide information that may benefit potential offerors in preparing their proposals, NETL has established an electronic reading room at http://www.netl.doe.gov/business/index.html. Upon completion of the Open House, a video of the tour will be posted on the electronic reading room along with other relative information. If you are interested in attending, please R.S.V.P. by May 30th to Stephanie Kennedy, Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory, 626 Cochrans Mill Road, P.O. Box 10940, Pittsburgh, PA 15236-0940, (412) 386-5507 or stephanie.kennedy@netl.doe.gov. Attendance will be limited to a maximum of three employees from each company. Due to NETLs security requirements, all attendees must R.S.V.P. by May 30th, must be U.S. citizens, and must bring photo identification with them at the time of their visit. We look forward to your participation at the Open House.
