- NASA/JSC has a requirement for a quantity of one Radio Frequency Power Amplifier,to be utilized for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing for certification ofhardware for Space Shuttle, International Space Station (ISS), and ConstellationPrograms. The necessary specifications are attached at:http://procurement.jsc.nasa.gov/NNJ08250331Q/RF_Power_Amplifier_Sepcification.PDF NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Instruments for Industry, Incorporated (IFI). The SMX500 Solid State Amplifier, can provide the specified bandwidth range of 10 kHzthrough 1 GHz in a single chassis at the power level required, which is 500 Watts.Instruments for Industry is the only known source that can meet these technicalrequirements.The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Based uponmarket research, the Government is not using the policies contained in Part 12,Acquisition of Commercial Items, in its solicitation for the described supplies orservices. However, interested persons may identify to the contracting officer theirinterest and capability to satisfy the Government's requirement with a commercial itemwithin 15 days of this notice. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:00 p.m. local timeon May 31, 2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
