Description
These questions were submitted to the contracting office on 15 May at 2:03am Eastern Time by an interested vendor. The Contract administrator answered those questions on 15 May at 9:55am Eastern Time. ** a) You have given us the size of the engine and guidelines on materials to use. Do we design our own covers within the guidelines set in the solicitation to fit the engine or do you have a specific implementation you are looking for? Yes you design/provide your own covers within the guidelines set in the solicitation to fit the engine. b) We understand the liner is 14X14 HDPE mesh? Is there is a specific denier or lamination specified? Is the liner the same size as the cover? Yes it is HDPE mesh. There is no specific denier or lamination specified, but the user will examine the best product and look for the best value for the government. The liner needs to cover the entire engine. c) What size is the hardware, and what quantity? Is there hardware on the other side of the picture, or only along one side. Where are the snaps going, and how many? Where are the snaps, D-rings and buckles located? From the photo you can see that the snaps and D-rings are all around the engine along the middle of the cover. The snaps/fasteners need to ensure that the engine is secure. d) Will there be any silk-screen or customization on the covers (like the pix shows). How much of an overlap is there, and how deep are the seams? No customization is required. The overlap between the top and bottom covers and how deep the seems are is unknown. There were no requirements/specifications sent by the customer for these areas. e) What are the blue straps around the cover? Are they added later and not provided by us? I believe those bunjie cords were provided by the last customer. They can be added into your quote if you feel it is necessary but again, there were no cords suggested in the purchase request. f) Can we sew the vinlylpieces together, or do they need to be heat-sealed? If heat sealing will secure the engine better that is one aspect of your particular quote. Some vendors are heat sealing, some are not. g) Do you have any samples of the cover we may access? Can you tell us the company whose part number is in the solicitation? The previous vendor was: King Bag & Manufacturing http://www.kingbag.com May we request an extension on the response date? The solicitation has been extended once already, and because of the fact it is a small purchase, I will only extend it for one day. Also, you are able to submit two quotes if you feel you are able to offer different options.
