Description
Aqaba Water Company (AWC) is soliciting expressions of interest in the construction of the First Phase of the Disi Water Transmission pipeline. The purpose of this request is to identify individual US contractors currently operating in Jordan who may be interested in bidding for the subject project. Prospective contractors must qualify at a minimum based on their nationality, eligibility, required resources, financial capacity, and technical experience with projects of similar scope and magnitude as described below. All potential bidders should refer to the USAID web site for nationality and eligibility rules. http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/01apr20051500/edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_2005/aprqtr/pdf/22cfr228.31.pdf In addition to the qualified US firms which must be currently operating in Jordan, the bid will be open also to local firms classified as first grade in the water and wastewater field according to the classification of the Jordanian General Tender Department. As a result of this exercise, interested US contractors will be invited to submit their pre-qualification documents for the Disi project. The project scope includes 1) procurement and installation of about 8700m of 800mm steel pipeline that extends from the high terminal reservoir at the entrance of Aqaba city to pressure break tank 2, and from pressure break tank 2 to the bridge at the back road of Aqaba; 2) procurement and installation of valves and fittings on the subject pipeline; and 3) connection to the two tanks and to the existing pipeline. The pipeline will be located next to the main road to Aqaba City about 350 km south of the capital city of Amman. USAID will provide funding of about US$ 2 million to partially finance the construction activities and the procurement of local materials. Additional funding will be provided by the AWC. The last date for submitting an expression of interest will be no later than 1200 hours, Jordan local time on May 29, 2008 at the offices of the AWC. Expression of interest received after the closing date and time will not be accepted.
