- Description
- The U. S. Army Research Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) is seeking technical information on Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Altimeter Test Chambers that will provide units with the ability to test and perform minor calibrations on parachutist altimeters. The Test Chambers will be used to simulate altitudes as high as 35,000-ft Mean Sea Level. The Altimeter shall have the following key performance capabilities: (Threshold (T) is a must-meet criterion; Objective (O) exceeds criterion.) (1) The Test Chamber will be required to have a accuracy of +/- 50 feet from 0 up to 5,000 feet MSL and +/- 125 feet up to 35,000 feet MSL (T), Accurate +/- 25 feet up to 5,000 feet MSL and +/- 75 feet up to 35,000 feet MSL (O) (2) Shall be able to be stored in a building that meets storage requirements outlined in TM 10-1670-201-23, at an altitude between 0 and 35,000 feet MSL and a temperature between 41F (5C) and 122F(50C) (T/O). (3) Shall be operational at an altitude between 0 and 10,000 feet MSL and a temperature between 41F (5C) and 122F(50C). (T/O) Addition performance capabilities: (4) Operates on 110 VAC at 50 and 60 Hz (T). Operates on 110 and 220 VAC at 50 and 60 HZ (O). (5) Must maintain accuracy for a period of 365 days of normal usage before requiring calibration (T/O). (6) Must be able to have minor calibration conducted by Parachute Rigger (T/O). (7) Must be contain all equipment required to operate at any altitude other than power source (T/O). (8) Must be capable of being transported and operated by one person (T/O). (9) Should be capable of testing 12 altimeters at one time that are similar in size to the MA-230. (T/O). (10) Altimeter Test Chamber should be enclosed in a rugged container and should pass Transit drop tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810F 516.5 Procedure IV (T/O). (11) Should not require the use of special tools to operate. (12) Must utilize a digital display (T/O) At this time, RDECOM is seeking sources, technical, and product information for an Altimeter Test Chamber that meets the Army's requirements. This market survey is for informational purposes only; this is not a Request for Proposal (RFP). All interested firms, regardless of size, are encouraged to respond to this request for information. Proprietary information will not be disclosed outside the US Government.
