- Description
- Using contract M67854-07-C-8006, awarded sole-source on 5/3/2007 to FAAC, Inc., 1229 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108, the U.S. Marine Corps has acquired the USMC-ODS (formerly Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement ODS) to provide entry and sustainment-level operator driver simulation training. The USMC-ODS is a unique system that offers a vehicle training platform unlike any other the Marine Corps maintains. Each Student Training Station (STS) consists of a generic cab that houses vehicle-specific dash panels, pedals, and appended armor kits (for field of view) that replicate the vehicles form, feel, and function. The system utilizes three visual channels to display the virtual world and a partial-motion platform that works in conjunction with a software-based dynamic dataset to simulate the actual driving experience in the virtual environment. This system can be contained in either a fixed location or a mobile trailer. The trailer can hold up to two STSs an! d an Instructor/Operator Station (IOS). Since its development, the training capability has been expanded to include additional vehicles. In addition to the original MTVR, the USMC-ODS now offers the MTVR with MTVR Armor System (MAS), Highly Mobile Multiple Wheeled (HMMWV), Up-Armored HMMWV, and the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Category I Cougar. Under the original contract, the ODS system was procured to support units on each of the major Active Duty Bases in the continental United States and select Marine Forces Reserve. Since contract award and fielding of the systems, both Active Duty and MARFORRES units have expressed the desire to procure more ODS systems and to further expand its training capability by including additional MRAP variants. Therefore, an increase in the value of contract M67854-07-C-8006 is anticipated (~$10.8 million) to procure additional ODS systems and to expand its training capability in include additional MRAP variants. Contractors ! with the capability to meet specified requirements should provide a response indicating their ability to do so. The anticipated delivery date for this effort is 30 Sep 08. This request in no way implies either implicitly or explicitly that respondents will be compensated in any way by the US Government for information or materials provided. Any information provided to the Government in response to this notice will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately.
