- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR LIQUID NITROGEN CRYOGENIC COOLING SHROUD. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions that were asked during industry day/site visit to MSFC Question: 1. Are documents MWI 6430.1/MPR 8823.2 & NPD 8710.5 available? Answer: Remove 6430.1 from SOW as MSFC will make any required lifting of equipment. Other documentation attached. Question: 2. Is D-tube extrusion ok in lieu of batwing? Answer: Yes. Statement of work will be changed to read ??extruded shroud material??. Question: 3. Are the vacuum pumps shown the final quantity? Answer: Yes Question: 4. Is there lead paint on chamber exterior? Answer: No lead in paint. Question: 5. Is thermal vacuum bake of painted shroud a definite requirement? Answer: Bakeout requirement will be removed from SOW. Question: 6. If so, can we use V-15 (or other NASA chamber) for vacuum verification of ambient baked shroud @ XL? Answer: N/A per 5. above. Question: 7. Ref. Statement of Work, Page 10 of 15, 2nd paragraph?Xplease confirm vacuum level stated at 1x10‾?Z TORR Answer: All vacuum levels throughout SOW will be changed to read ??high vacuum??. Question: 8. Ref. SOW, Page 10 of 15, 6th paragraph entitled Testing?X??Load box, resistance heat, at MSFC??s discretion.?? Please advise if load box will be used. Answer: This states that MSFC has the right to place a 180 watt/m2 load in chamber and verify that shroud wall meet specification. Question: 9. Page 6 Structural Analysis?XWhat is the controlling document defining factors of safety? Answer: No document. This means that the shroud should be built capable of being lifted as a unit via an overhead crane and can be stored on floor without any permanent deformation. 10. Ref. SOW, page 6, 1st paragraph?XIs PE stamp a requirement since chamber is not man rated Answer: The requirement for a PE will be removed from the SOW. 11. Ref. SOW, page 6, 4th paragraph?XZones are interpreted as shroud sections, not temp. zones, correct? Question: Correct interpretation. 12. Do you know who made the tank. Is there an ID tag on the tank? Answer: No ID Tag. Old property documents indicate Chicago Bridge & Iron was the builder. See attached revised SOW, MPR8823.2 and NPD 8710.5, and Data Requirements Documents. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on February 29, 2008.
