- Description: This project will modify and renovate the majority of the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy areas of the rehabilitation Medicine Service in building 1 (constructed circa 1937). This project will address FCA deficiencies rated "0" including windows, lighting, signage, hand rails, duct work, HVAC controls, perimeter heating and finishes. The project will provide new lighting new acoustical ceiling, handrails and finishes in the adjacent corridor. This project will relocate several walls and add new ones. This will create private treatment rooms in educational area increased waiting space pleasant reception area and efficient work stations for staff. New doors will be added to increase privacy. Existing offices will be renovated. A new 81000 CFM air handling unit will be installed to provide upgraded indoor air quality. Although PT/OT are strategically located between the inpatient and outpatient buildings PT/OT are working in dark and crowded areas in the basement of the clinical building. The new finishes on existing space and the new layout of the new space will allow for utilization of new technologies and would facilitate the transition to a larger outpatient environment and better facilitate the care associated with Poly Trauma and TBl. There is a lack of privacy for patient interaction and very poor patient flow pattern. New lighting and finishes will great improve and brighten the environment. This project is necessary for the staff to maintain necessary patient care services with the increasing ambulatory care patient environment. All designs are to be to VA design criteria. Estimated construction cost is $2.5 mil. Design is to be completed December 1 2008. The A/E firm must have an active production office within a 200 mile radius of White River Junction, Vermont. The following factors will be considered: reputation and standing of the firm and its principal officials with respect to professional performance, general management and cooperativeness/record of significant claims against the firm because of improper or incomplete architectural and engineering services, specific experience and qualifications of personnel proposed for assignment to the project and their record of working together as a team. Award is subject to the availability of funds. Submissions of SF 330s are due NLT April 18, 2008. Please note that this is not a Request for Proposal and the Government is seeking information for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or a commitment by the Government to later publish a solicitation. This announcement is not a request for competitive quotations. No solicitation document is available and telephone inquires will not be honored; however, interested parties may submit literature detailing how their services meet the VA requirements to the Contracting Officer. Responses received on or before April 18, 2008 will be considered.
