Description
Concerns having the ability to furnish the supplies and services described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 10 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), CR Minerals Team, Denver, CO, has a requirement for two types of glass materials testing. 1. High quality amorphorous glass with no crystalline materials present, and 2. Glass type partially melted materials which displays significant amounts of crystalline materials fused with partially melted glass. To prepare materials with the proper fielity a significant quanity of glass materials with the proper chemical compositition must be incorporated into the final product. Vendor shall be required to prepare samples of both a high quality (amorphorous) glass and a low quallity partically melted glass (agglutinate) like material. It is required that production with maximum of 700 pounds of the high quality glass be completed within 30 days. Production of the low quality glass shall be completed within 45 days. This time period is required in order to combine the glass and mineral components. Because of the weight of the samples, it is required the vendor be within driving distance of the metropolitan area of Denver, Colorado. The vendor shall have experience in the use of the Remotely Coupled Transfer Arc Plasma technology for completion of samples. In accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(l), implemented by FAR 5.302-1, the Government considers the specified supplies and services as a sole source procurement from Zybeck Advanced Products, Boulder, CO, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required supplies and services are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. THIS ANNOUCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY; NO FORMAL RFQ WILL BE AVAILABLE. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement.
