Description
NASA/GSFC has a requirement a heterodyne 325.15 GHz radiometer system with the following specifications: -Antenna (Lens and feed horn) -Mixer, subharmonic -Gunn Oscillator, 81.287 GHz -Isolator -Doubler -IF amplifier -Three band passive filter Documentation: Specifications, operating instructions, operating conditions and limits, and other pertinent information shall be delivered for the components supplied. System and component test results shall also be delivered. Packaging: The radiometer must fit within a specific volume in order that it be accommodated into an existing drum shaped sensor head containing other radiometers. Some latitude exists for working around a limited number of projections outside the volume such as SMA connectors. The required volume envelope is shown in the attached drawing, and should be considered as a guide rather than a hard requirement. There is no allowance for system redesign. Components are mounted on a metal plate, supplied by the NASA/GSFC. System Performance: -System Noise Temperature: <3700 K -Power Balancing: The vendor is responsible for the total system performance. Gunn power must be sufficient to drive Antenna Assembly: -General: gold plated, integral circular to rectangular waveguide transition that mates with mixer, antenna body shall have cylindrical or rounded rectangular surface perpendicular to the antenna aperture. -Mounting: The aperture face of the lens assembly must have space for drilling and tapping of mounting screws. -Beamwidth: 4.0 degrees +/-0.1 degree (full width half power) -Bandwidth: 20 GHz -Beam Efficiency: >92% as measured from first null -VSWR: <1.4:1 -Polarization: single-linear -On-axis cross-polarization discrimination over passband: 25 dB minimum. IF amplifier: -Size: Must be accommodated within the available volume. Typical size should be 1 x 0.4 x 2.4 inches. -Bandwidth: 0.5 ? 14 GHz -Gain: ~60 dB -Gain flatness: +/- 0.5 dB Gunn -Center frequency: 81.287 GHz, +/- 2 MHz at 35 C -Frequency Temperature Stability 3 MHz/degree C Doubler -Voltage biased rather than self biased Mixer -Sub-harmonic to minimize doubler count and LO system complexity. -Noise Temperature: ~1000 Kelvins -Conversion Loss: ~ 6 dB Isolator -Loss: Should be low, but the value is defined by compatibility of the Gunn power with the doubler efficiency and final LO power to the mixer. Filter -Insertion Loss: 1 dB -Pass bands: Science desires the following (in GHz): 325.15 +/- 1.5 (1.6 bandpass) 325.15 +/- 3.5 (2.4 bandpass) 325.15 +/- 9.5 (3.0 bandpass) A proposed realistic solution is the following (in GHz): 325.15 +/- 1.4 (1.4 bandpass) 325.15 +/- 3.6 (2.2 bandpass) 325.15 +/- 9.5 (3.0 bandpass) Isolation between bands: 25 dB Temperature range: 23C +/- 10C Size: Must fit within the 325 radiometer volume. Typical size is 0.8 x 1.75 x 2.75 inches This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing via email to Candis.J.Edwards-Duncan@nasa.gov by 02/01/2008. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments. Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments. An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B".
