Description
The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) has a requirement for Medical Physicist Services at University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15240. VAPHS intends to issue a full and open competitive unrestricted solicitation for Medical Physicist Services. The contract period is expected to a base year with three (3) one-year option periods. The proposed contract will be a firm-fixed priced contract to the offeror whose quote provides the best value to the Government. The VAPHS primary caseload is an adult population, generally consisting of prostate, head/neck, and lung cases; and we are currently averaging forty (40) patients per day treated with radiation. The contractor will provide up to 1.5 full-time equivalents (FTE) Medical Physicist to perform the requirements of this contract (up to 60 hours a week). The medical physicist(s) providing service under this contract must be board certified in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics. The Medical Physicist(s) shall provide full and complete on-site physics coverage on a daily basis Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and as needed off tour coverage for the Radiation Therapy Service, VAPHS, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15240. Coverage also includes adequate assistance in the total management of the patient. The personnel providing this coverage will also (1) are available for consultation and didactic discussions in person unless phone or e-mail is determined sufficient by the VAPHS, and (2) provide education and present in-service/training programs for Radiation Therapy personnel. The solicitation will be made available on or about January 28, 2008, and the date for receipt of proposals is February 8, 2008 (C.O.B.).
