Description
BIO-POND TREATMENT & MONITORING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE TASKS PERFORANCE WORK STATEMENT (PWS) Pre-Qualifications " All contractors working on this system under this statement of work shall have a minimum of 2-years experience maintaining the following equipment: BIOX 1010/1015 BOD5 online analyzer (as manufactured by Endress & Hauser); 6700FR Automatic Sampler (as manufactured by Teledyne ISCO); accQmin flow meter (as manufactured by Teledyne ISCO); and 4210 flow meter (as manufactured by Te ledyne ISCO). Experience with similar equipment may be determined by the contracting officer as equivalent upon evaluation of the contractors proposal. Tasks Performed as necessary (as inspected once per week) " Change out carbon and particula te filters; " Transfer sugar water to drum storage for pond feed system; " Refill Substrate and nutrients for BIOX feed system; " Ensure the automatic BOD sampler is prepared for a deicing discharge event " Ensure the submersible pump in south pond is operable and not settled in pond sediment " Replace membranes on DO probes as required Tasks Performed Once Per Week " Inspect and maintain food systems for north pond. System includes metering pumps and feed lines " On the BIOX, m aintain operational housekeeping for all components such as, but not limited to, the following: o Sample path; o Flow path; o Circulation path o Discharge path; o By-pass loop and screen " Clean and calibrate both DO Probes " Calibrat e BIOX pumps Tasks Performed Once Per Two Weeks " Clean the circulating pump and loop with brush Tasks Performed Monthly " Replace Peristaltic Pump Tubing Tasks Performed Every Visit " Maintain operation log, record BI OX readings and operational parameters. " Keep the Environmental Office at PANG informed regarding the performance of the system, problems encountered, and of any changes to the system (i.e. parameters, settings, hardware, software) " Insure the accQ min (in-pipe) flow meter is reporting data every 2-minutes to the BIOX to coincide with 2-minute BIOX BOD values being logged. " Insure the accQmin and over the weir flow meters log data internally at a rate not greater than 1 reading every 2-minutes a nd are able to internally store flow data for a rolling period of not less than 3-days. Emergency Response (provide as separate unit price/call) " Remain on call 24 hours/ day, 7/days a week 1 OCT to 1 MAY each year to receive and respond to BI OX generated malfunction phone calls within 2 hours. Simple repairs must be made within 2-1/2 hrs after receiving each call. In the event simple repairs cannot be made within 2-1/2 hours after the BIOX malfunctions, turn on the BOD sampler to take an imme diate sample followed by samples every 6-hours and notify Roger Rein at 503-292-7687 (home), 503-335-4462 (office) or 971-404-7698 (cell) immediately. Tasks Performed Seasonally " Spring- Biox Shut down- Thoroughly clean analyzer and replace all consumable components; Preserve bio-mass and media by wet or dry freezing; Lock the analyzer cabinet. " Fall- Biox Startup- Restart analyzer as follows: reestablish flow (water, substrate and nutrients) through the analyzer and bring temperatures up to operational levels, Add media and bio-mass; establish consumption with a stepwise procedure until TQP = 500 ml/m; Establish measurement prior to Oct 1 " Configure BOD sampler with laboratory clean bottles and tubing to sample every 3-hours upon manual activation. Provide a back up set of laboratory clean bottles and place them into the BOD sampler as needed when removed by others. " BIOX clock must be synchronized with the WLA SCADA clock in the base environmental office (blg 165, room 11). " In sure a MSDS binder is placed inside the BIOX shed for all chemicals used on site. Equipment Malfunctions " If any equipment malfunctions after the co ntractor performs the above tasks, such malfunctions shall be considered as unforeseen and shall be outside the scope of the contract for the contractor to repair. Such malfunctions shall be reported to the contracting officer immediately.
