Description
The Government is seeking potential offerors for the rapid development and deployment of a rifle-mountable rangefinder for the M320 Grenade Launcher Module (GLM). Vendors are requested to provide information to the U.S. Army Product Manager Soldier S ensors and Lasers (PM SSL). The GLM will provide an improved capability to range and engage targets from 31 to 350 meters day and night. The GLM grenadier will have the capability to point to targets for other members of the squad to distances out to 800 m eters. Information on the XM320 can be found here: http://www.peosoldier.army.mil/factsheets/SW_IW_M320.pdf For more images of an M4 carbine equipped with a GLM and associated day/night sight, please contact Ms. McCoy Klink, telephone ( 703) 704-0035, email mccoy.klink@us.army.mil Key requirements for the GLM pertaining to its associated rangefinder are that the subsystem provide a weapon-mounted range determination capability out to 800 meters with a measurement accuracy of ? 3 me ters. The rangefinder should at least provide repeatable and accurate range determination capability for man-sized targets out to 200 meters and tank-sized targets out to 300 meters. The Armys intent is to procure a rangefinder for grenadiers that is mountable on an M4 carbine equipped with the GLM and associated day/night sight. The rangefinder should be backward-compatible with the legacy M203 grenade launcher system. The rangefinder shall minimize weight impact to the Soldier. Cost, size, weight, and ergonomics are critical to the rangefinder program. As such, PM SSL will consider any configuration which will fit on the limited MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rail space on the M4 not already occupied by the GLM itself or the day/night sight, primarily on the top rail, including stand-alone systems or systems integrated into other equipment (day sights, aiming lights, etc.) common to the M4 carbine. The solution procured shall be a commercial-off-the-shelf or non-developmental item. There is a pote ntial to procure 72,000 rangefinder systems beginning in FY09. The Government requests information on any materiel solutions for this rangefinder, including cost to develop, unit cost, and schedule including delivery date after receipt of order. <BR > Point of contact for this action is Ms. McCoy Klink, telephone (703) 704-0035, email mccoy.klink@us.army.mil. Please provide all information no later than Friday, 11 January 2008.
