- RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS W81XWH-08-RFI-EHR Q1: As the results of this RFI are not intended to result in a solicitation, can the Governments provide additional clarity with regard to the desired outcomes of this process, in particular how res ponses will be utilized? R1: The desired outcome of this effort is to asses the maturity of EHR market place and identify if there are sufficient vendors available for a possible competitive solicitation somewhere in the future. Q2: Is there are cri tical deadline that is driving the short time frame for the RFI response? Are there any impending events or oversight requirements that compel the government to seek such a detailed response to a complex requirement, with a relatively short response time?< BR>R2: The governments long term planning cycle and acquisition framework support the required schedule. Q3: VistA and AHLTA are very complex systems that have evolved over a long period of time. Both systems are in the processes of moving to a more mo dern infrastructure and architecture. Will the government make the current agency detailed plans for these transformations available so that detailed and relevant recommendations may be developed? R3: The government will not provide information on VISTA or AHLTA at this time that is not already in the public domain. Q4: Can the Government provide additional information with regard to the decision to focus exclusively on inpatient HER. R4: This question is unclear as to what specific information is being requested. Q5: Will the information gathered via this RFI process be integrated with recommendations from studies such as the Presidents Commission on Care for Americas Returning Wounded Warriors studies. That information is acquisition sensiti ve. Q6: We would like the opportunity to meet with you so that we can develop a comprehensive response to the topics in this RFI. If the submission deadline is then extended to January 31, 2008 we would be in a position to submit a strong response to t he RFL. R6: It is not appropriate at this time for the Government to meet with any vendors submitting information to this RFL. Also, the Government is not in a position to be able to extend the deadline any further beyond the published submittal date p er Amendment 1 of the RFI issued 6 December 2007. The submittal deadline remains at Noon (EST) on Thursday, 20 December 2007. Q7: Is the purpose of this RFI seeking responses from providers of enterprise wide solutions only? R7: Yes, the purpose of this RFI seeks responses from providers of enterprise-wide solutions. A8: May we assume electronic submission by email attachment of our response is acceptable. R8: Yes, electronic submission by email is acceptable. Q9: Is the 2-page Executive Su mmary response in addition to the 30-pages for the primary response for a total of 32 pages. R9: Yes, it is in addition to the 30 pages for the primary response, thus a total of 32 pages. Q10: I did not see any formatting rules for margins, font typ e and size, etc. I did see 30 single-sided pages maximum rule, but are there particular font sizes and types, etc. that youd like us to use? R10: There are no specific formatting rules for margins, font type and size. Typically responders use 1 marg ins and Times New Roman 10 pt. But you may use whatever you deem appropriate. Q11: We need clarification regarding the deadline for submittal noon on December 20 is that Eastern Standard Time (EST)? Hawaii is five hours behind EST so can we assu me that it implies noon Hawaii time, or 7 a.m. Hawaii time? R11: The deadline for submittal is Noon Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Thursday, 20 December 2007. Thus, yes, since Hawaii is five hours behind EST that would mean you would need to submit by 7 a.m. Hawaii time. Q12: While we do not produce an inpatient HER product, we would like to know if they are interested in receiving recommendations for dat a integration and interoperability with almbulatory care centers. We would welcome the opportunity to help them consider the next step of information exchange, so that the first step they take will be in the right direction. R12: The government does no t want to expand the scope outside of what was requested
