- Description
- It is the Army National Guards intent to solicit a sole-source proposal from a not-for-profit alliance of healthcare organizations called The Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Specifically, the Army National Guard (ARNG) requires a 1-year membership to CAQHs Universal Credentialing Datasource in order to support medical credentials verification efforts for all AR NG medical personnel throughout the US and overseas. The Universal Credentialing Datasource, is necessary to the government because it allows registered physicians and other health professionals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to enter their credentialing information free of charge into a single, uniform online application that meets the credentialing needs of health plans, hospitals and other healthcare organizations. This provider data-collection service streamlines the initial applic ation and re-credentialing processes, reduces provider administrative burdens and costs, and offers health plans and networks real-time access to reliable provider information for claims processing, quality assurance and member services, such as directorie s and referrals. The Common Credentialing Datasource is the only known national initiative to assemble this information and currently has the largest number of providers actively participating. Additionally, the database is unique in that it is a central commercial national repository. Additionally, several states have already mandated the use of the CAQH application by law (IN, KY, KS, MD, RI, VT and DC) and several others are in the process of adopting legislation (MO and OH). Common Credentiali ng Datasource has the support of key provider stakeholder organizations (AMA, AAFP, ACP, AHIMA, HFMA and MGMA) further enhancing user level support and database accuracy. The total cost of this service is not expected to exceed the simplied acquisit ion threshold. All interested parties may e-mail Major Michael Wegner at no later than 21 December 2007 at Michael.wegner1@us.army.mil.
