- Description
- This solicitation is hereby amended to address vendor question and answers that have been received for this requirement. The due date for quotes remains unchanged and all responses must be submitted no later than 3:30pm, local time on December 19, 2007 for consideration. Question: What material are the floor, ceiling and walls made from? Answer: The accordion doors will be mounted inside existing closets that have the opening sizes referenced within the notice. The flooring will be existing carpet, the walls are plaster and the ceiling where the doors shall be mounted is either drywall or plaster. Question: Are these replacement doors? Answer: Yes, these are replacement doors, but not exact replacements. These are replacing inexpensive, plastic/vinyl doors that are not consistent with the decor in the room. Question: Will the old doors need to be disposed of? Answer: Yes, the existing doors shall be discarded. Question: What are STC requirements? Answer: The STC requirements are minimal since these doors will be used on closets. Question: Natural wood accordion doors that are fire rated are difficult to locate, would vinyl with wood appearance be considered? Answer: Spec (10) states "For performance requirements, the door panel CORE material shall be class 1 fire retardant, not the wood veneer. Vinyl is not acceptable. Question: Can the overhead mount be made of wood? Answer: The overhead is concealed for the most part. The track is metal, whatever the track is attached too can be wood, but must be finished. Question: Do all 5 doors stack to 1 side? Answer: Doors shall stack both sides from the center. Question: There are four (4) wood species available (Birch, Walnut, Oak and Mahogany) each has a different cost. Please advice species required. Answer: The hardwood type is not as critical as the color match to the existing surroundings. Birch or maple stained to a darker walnut tone is acceptable. Factory stained Birch, or something comparable, to match the surrounding walnut tones will be sufficient. Samples must be submitted for selection. Question: Is installation on first floor or an upper floor? If and upper floor, can equipment travel by elevator? Answer: The work is being performed on two separate floors (basement and first floor level), both accessible by doors and not requiring elevator usage. Question: Can installation be done during normal business hours? Answer: Installation may be required to be performed evening or weekends. It is possible it could be done during regular hours, but until NIST knows the exact delivery time of the doors, NIST cannot set aside regular time for the conference rooms to be closed. Therefore, there is a possibility for the need for work outside of normal business hours. Question: Is there a wage scale requirement? Answer: Yes, In accordance with 52.2222-41, Service Contract Act of 1965, Wage Determination No.: 2005-2103, Revision No. : 4 dated 07/05/2007 shall apply.
