Description
The judicial duties of the judge are to preside over the Santa Fe Indian School/Albuquerque Indian School CFR court (civil and criminal) dockets of the approved portions of 25 CFR to accomplish a stable and competent judicial system paramount to fortification of the lifestyle of the occupants on the properties. These duties necessitate travel to Albuquerque, NM and Santa Fe, NM. This is a part-time position. The judge's services will be utilized on an as-needed basis. The responsibilities of the position prohibit outside employment or activities which constitute a conflict of interest or violate ethics or standards of judicial conduct established by the American Bar Association, as well as those established as Rules of Court of Indian Offenses, and those applicable to the United States magistrates. The judge is required to have prior experience serving as a tribal judge for a minimum of three years, or shall have been admitted to practice law in the highest court of a State, Commonwealth, Territory or Possession, or of the District of Columbia for three (3) years immediately preceding the date of application, and be in good standing. Actual practice and litigation experience in general civil and criminal law is necessary and it is preferable for the judge to have judicial experience. Individuals who are qualified and interested in this opportunity are invited to request a copy of the solicitation document which will be a Request for Quotations (RFQ) that is expected to be released in mid-December, 2007. This is a 100 per cent set-aside for Native American contractors who are members of federally-recognized Indian tribes as authorized by the Buy Indian Act (25 USC 47)
