- Description
- The VA Health Administration Center (HAC) is seeking information from potential sources capable of providing document destruction and recycling services. The nature of the material to be destroyed is considered Government-witnessed material (that which must be destroyed in the presence of a Government official via a one-step process in order to ensure maximum protection from disclosure). The average Shredded Document pick-up per month is approximately 70lbs per bag, 600 bags per month or 42,000 lbs per month. Shredding Specifications: In accordance with the VA Handbook 6500 and NIST 800-88, paper data shall be destroyed (shredded) to a size of 1 x 5 millimeters in size (reference devices on the NSA paper Shredder EPL), or to pulverize/disintegrate paper materials using disintegrator devices equipped with 3/32 inch security screen (reference NSA Disintegrator EPL.). The Contractor may also destroy wastepaper by putting it into a pulping vat. Either method must produce an end product that is totally illegible. Protected information contained on any other form of media will be removed, obliterated, or the media destroyed in such a manner that the information is totally unrecoverable. (NOTE: The material may contain an amount of contaminants beyond the normal level for mixed paper-staples, paper clips, metal.) The contractor should have past experience in document destruction and recycling services. The purpose of this announcement is to gather information on the available sources for this requirement and does not constitute an Invitation for Bids, a Request for Proposals, a Request for Quotations or an indication that the Government will contract for any of the items and/or services described in this notice. In submitting a response, respondents are solely responsible for any associated expenses. The information received in response may be used to create an acquisition strategy, including set aside decisions, and a detailed work statement. The following provision is applicable to this notice and is hereby incorporated by reference: FAR 52.215-3 Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes (Oct 1997). The full text of this provision is available at http://www.acquisition.gov/far/index.html. Please provide a brief statement of your capabilities, experience, an estimated cost, and technical comments. Include your company information, size status, and a name, address, phone number, fax, and email for a point of contact. Provide information on any other government contracts you have for this type of work. Responses should be sent via email only. NO TELEPHONE CALLS. This Request for Information in no way constitutes a Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on this announcement. Written responses should be received no later than November 23, 2007.
