- Request for Information: Improvised Explosive Device Detection Technologies and/or Systems. Due: 17 December 2007. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Directed Energy Technology Office (DETO), is investigating technologies and systems to detect improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The goal of this RFI is to survey organizations to determine the various technologies and/or systems that exist to detect IEDs and the capabilities of these detection technologies and/or systems. The desirable characteristics of the detection technologies and/or systems are: (1) detection range of a minimum of 100 meters, (2) able to be carried and or installed on a vehicle, (3) capable of being fielded in a harsh environment, (4) near term potential to have an automated detection and recognition with minimal development, (5) ability to be integrated with other sensors, and (6) have the output data format easily modified to be able to be fused with the informatio n from other detection systems. Firms possessing the capability to meet the above requirements are invited to submit a white paper (10 pages maximum) providing a description of their system. The white paper should include: (1) description of their system and validating information as to the systems capabilities as they relate to the desired characteristics stated above, (2) system technical specifications, (3) product literature (not part of page count), (4) results of systems testing or perational results, (5) price schedules/catalogues (not included in the page count), customary practices, including warranties, and discounts for commercial sales, (6) any restrictions that relate to the ability of the product being sold to the US Government and (7) general information concerning company size and qualification in any socio-economic programs. Proprietary information submitted in response to this RFI shall be properly marked and will be protected appropriately. Response s to this RFI are due by 17 December 2007. Offerors are responsible f or any and all costs in preparing their response to this RFI. The preferred method of response is electronic mail sent to: DLGR_NSWC_XDS13@navy.mil . If the size of the response exceeds 5MB or there are other electronic mail delivery constraints, responses may be mailed to: Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren, Attn: XDS13, 17632 Dahlgren Road Ste 157, Dahlgren, VA 22448-5110. If the package is mailed an electronic message shall be sent to DLGR_NSWC_XDS13@navy.mil to provide notification that a response is being submitted. Submission of this information is for planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure any items or services. The Government will not pay for any of the information received. This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) webpage located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) website located at http://www.neco.navy.mil.
