Description
The purpose of this Modification is to correct the number of test vehicles specified below. The Government will be acquiring fifteen (15) test vehicles - nine (9) armored and six (6) unarmored, in lieu of ten (10) test vehicles. All other informati on remains the same. The U.S. ARMY TACOM LCMC, Product Managers Office, Light Tactical Vehicles (PM LTV), Warren, MI, intends to solicit on a sole source basis with AM General Corporation (AMG) for ten (10) test vehicles - two (2) armored and three (3) unarmored for two config urations, and test support. The two configurations are a two (2) person vehicle (operationally similar to the M1113/M11 52 ) and a four (4) person vehicle (operationally similar to the M1151/M1165). The Government is interested in achieving improved vehicl e performance, payload protection and crew survivability, within the current Operational Requirements Document (ORD) Block II requirements. Desired characteristics may include: increased engine horsepower (potentially a new engine, power train), torq ue; o ther improved components such as transmissions, wheel/tire assembly, power steering pump, and brakes. There is no requirement to use the current HMMWV chassis and commonality is not required. Although standardizing improvements into the existing fle et of HMMWVs is desirable it is not required. Maximum leverage of the existing HMMWV support structure is encouraged. Test assets are required to be at the test site (Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) and Yuma Proving Grounds (YPG)) no later than 2 January 2008 and wil l be tested to the Block II requirements of the HMMWV ORD, dated 17 SEP 04. Vehicles will also be tested for occupant protection against mine blast, IED, and ballistic threats. The intent of this action is to demonstrate improvement above the current HMMWV platform to bridge current capability gaps. This Synopsis/Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements and delivery listed above, may give written notification to the Contra cting O fficer not later than 15 days from the date of this publication. If the test results of these vehicles are successful, the Government intends to pursue on a sole source basis the acquisition of future production vehicles.
