Description

Design services for renovation of the Nursing Home Area at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. The required services shall include schematic design concepts (15%), design development drawings (60%), preparation of final construction documents including cost estimate for the 100% level, selected construction period service, post construction services, and other typical tasks related to these services for Project 534-08-111. The proposed construction is to renovate a portion of the 4th floor Nursing Home; this will be the 1st phase of a program to convert the unit to a Palliative Care Unit. The primary intent is to convert existing patient rooms into family lounge/kitchen/dining room/activity room/commons areas, convert non-ADA rooms to ADA compliant patient rooms, provide support rooms, and provide a non-institutional atmosphere. Design will involve upgrading HVAC, plumbing, telecom, cable, nurse call, telemetry, headwalls with medical gas, electrical power (both normal and emergency), lighting, data, etc. Meetings with Nursing Home (GEC) and medical staff will be required. The project will also require limited coordination of relocated functions displaced by construction activities in the same general location. Exact determination will be during the programming meetings. The estimated construction is between $1,000,000.00 - $2,000,000.00. Consideration is limited to concerns located within a 200 mile radius of VAMC, Charleston, SC. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 541310. This notice is issued subject to the availability of funds and is not a request for proposal.
