- Description
- The Excalibur Program is a Precision-Guided, Extended-Range family of 155mm projectiles to deliver precise, lethal, cost effective fires at ranges of up to 35 km and greater. The 155mm Excalibur projectile will enable the maneuver commander to precisely defeat critical targets while minimizing collateral damage and unexploded ordnance. The Excalibur???s performance is dependant upon accurate target locating systems and sensors. This program supports the requirements of the US Army and those of future Foreign Military Sales (FMS). This procurement is a five-year Production effort (base year plus base year option and four subsequent option years) that includes a combination of configurations of Excalibur Block Ia variants (Ia-1 and Ia-2. The Firm Fixed Price FY07 Basic Contract W15QKN-07-C-0100 was awarded to Raytheon Missile Systems for the quantity of 725 units with an additional basic year option of 300 units. Maximum quantities for the follow-on option years are FY08-2000, FY09-2500, FY10-3500 and FY11-3547. These units will be applied against the existing Excalibur contract (W15QKN-07-C-0100). Excalibur projectiles are to be produced in accordance with the Block Ia Technical Data Package and applicable documents with additional changes approved by the Government. The contract was awarded as a follow-on to the Excalibur development contractor, Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS), Tucson, AZ. The award date of the option year quantities is expected to be in 2ndQtr-FY08. The government intends to award sole source to RMS under the authority of 10 USC 2304(c)(1), as authorized by, FAR 6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
