- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items: Fire Resistant Protective Thermal Undergarment (FR-PTU), is a breathable, first layer garment designed to reduce the effect of cold temperature by providing additional insulation to the torso and extremities. This lightweight, one-piece undergarment is easily donned, providing maximum range of motion while reducing on job thermal burden for any mission. The FR-PTU allows easy layering, enhancing comfort and thermal protection when worn under a NOMEX? flight coverall or NOMEX? dry suit ensemble. It is machine washable, easy to maintain, and comes with a unique zipper configuration to accommodate both gender in-flight aircrew relief systems. Made with a durable, four-way stretch Polartec? Power Stretch FR with NOMEX? fabric, the FR-PTU has a smooth, water repellent finish that resists wind, moisture, and abrasion. The NOMEX? blend fabric provides fire resistant protection when worn under NOMEX? clothing. This synopsis and solicitation is prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ).
