Description
MARKET SURVEY ??? Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) for Government-evaluation testing. The US Joint Munitions & Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM&L LCMC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is seeking to test Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) from alternate product sources that currently meet the requirements of the Excalibur IMU Performance Specification, and Electrical Interface Control Document, or hereon known as the IMU Spec and ICD. An IMU is a 6 degree-of- freedom digital inertial measurement subsystem that is a component of a navigation system and which consists of 6 micro-machined silicon sensors; 3- accelerometers and 3-gyros. The IMU Spec and ICD have limited distribution to DOD contractors; therefore, in order to receive this documentation, interested sources must be US DOD contractors and provide DOD certification to the Government. Upon receipt of this verification, two documents will be sent to the authorized contractor. These documents describe the IMU functional, physical, and environmental requirements for operation in precision-guided, 155mm cannon-launched artillery projectiles. Without these two documents, interested sources cannot offer information pertaining to the subsequent questions. All responses to this market survey are required to be in English. Once DOD certification has been received by the USG and the two documents have been sent, all interested parties must provide requested information and data in response to the following: a. Provide evidence that IMU design meets or exceeds the majority of the requirements of the IMU Spec and ICD. b. Provide summary of IMU Spec and ICD requirements that are not currently met and also the predicted timeframe and cost for meeting them. c. Provide test evidence of meeting requirements of the IMU S pec both before and after firing in 155mm cannon-based artillery systems with emphasis on meeting or exceeding the objective of 15,750 G launch-acceleration. d. Provide evidence of being able to produce 3-9 units within 6 weeks of purchase order and for completing post-gun shock performance testing within 2 weeks of return of units. e. Provide product delivery schedule and cost for 500 and 1,000 units per year. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). It is not to be construed as a commitment by the U.S. Government. No award will be made as a result of this market survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey. Interested sources should submit their qualification data and requested information within 44 days of this notice to JM&L LCMC, ATTN: Christina Nigro, AMSML-AQ-CA, Bldg. 9, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000.
