- Western Area Power Administration (Western), Lakewood, Colorado intends to award a sole source contract to Colorado Design Specialties, Inc., 1501 W. Campus Drive, Suite M, Littleton, Colorado 80120. The objective of this effort will be the replacement of approximately 1,500 existing Tennsco steel shelves with 1,500 Lundia wood shelves in the Corporate Services Office Records Storage Office. The contractor will remove and dispose of the steel shelves, then order, install, and integrate the new wooden shelves into the existing Lundia FullSpace Model shelving and storage system unit. Western has determined that Design Specialties, Inc. is the only firm capable of providing this product and related services as the products required must be compatible with the existing system. Design Specialties, Inc is considered a small business under the National American Industrial Classification System (NAICS). The NAICS Code for this procurement is 337211 with a size standard of 500 employees. Accordingly, Western intends to conduct this sole source procurement under authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), and no other sources will be considered. A public solicitation will not be available. This notice satisfies the requirement of FAR Part 5 for publicizing contract opportunities. Parties that have an interest in this requirement may contact the person listed below to arrange a site visit for viewing the Records Storage Office where the work is to be done. Firms wishing to challenge the sole-source decision must submit a letter of interest, referencing No. DE-AF65-07WA36753, to Western demonstrating the firm???s ability to provide the equivalent items as described above. Firms shall also indicate whether or not they are a small business, small business women-owned, small disadvantaged business, or an 8(a) small business concern. Interested parties must provide rationale, including pricing, as to why they should be considered. Any questions or comments pertaining to this action shall be faxed to (720) 962-7161, Attn: John Sutter, no later than July 30, 2007, 12:00 PM. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A REQUEST FOR A FORMAL PROPOSAL OR A PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE. This notice is provided as information to the marketplace in accordance with FAR Part 5. All feedback received will be taken into consideration, however the agency reserves the right to not utilize the comments or any other information provided. This notice in no way obligates the Government to award any contract. Western will not be responsible for any costs incurred by responding to this Notice. NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME.
