Description

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Advanced Research System (ARS) Inc. in Macungie, PA for the purchase of a closed cycle cryostat for spectroscopy.*** The sole source determination is based on the ARS closed cycle cryostat being the only system that can meet NIST?s minimum requirements. No other vendor can meet the NIST requirement for a closed cycle cryostat that reduces the root mean square vibration down to 5 nanometers. ARS is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this system. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 12 weeks after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 339111, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 07, 2007.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
