- Description
- Request for Information Description: The first phase of this JAT effort involves a study to develop initial assessments by the conclusion of August 2007 to support DoD leadership decision-making. Consequently, the JAT is focusing on major issues. The JAT already has information provided by DoD Components concerning major DoD UAS capabilities in development, acquisition and operations. Additional information on these topics is not a priority (but is not excluded). Respondents are invited to provide a white paper of no more than 15 pages addressing current and future (next 10 years) UAS issues. One purpose of the page limit is to focus attention on what respondents regard as the most critical issues. The page limit does apply to datasheets in the desired format which can be obtained electronically from the POC designated below. The JAT has particular (but not exclusive) interest in the following topics: - Those capabilities with highest potential payoffs that are under development today or could be developed using proven technologies. - Unique contributions that UAS could make to DoD missions, and the specific UAS attributes that enable this. - Important capability redundancies and shortfalls. - Key issues and technology vectors to enable enhanced or new UAS capabilities. - Opportunities that, in the view of respondents, the Department of Defense is not adequately pursuing, to include recommendations concerning alternative approaches and their possible payoffs. - Any other significant information that respondents believe warrants attention by senior DoD leaders making decisions concerning DoD UAS and associated technologies.
