Description
The National Park Service is seeking a contractor to perform conservation treatment of up to 12 monuments/sculptures located in Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The park encompasses 1,800 acres and boasts of 1,330 monuments, markers, tablets, and plaques, making Vicksburg one of the more densely monumented battlefields in the world. The exquisite sculptures of stone and bronze which dot the park landscape were executed by the foremost American and European sculptors of the late nineteenth--early twentieth centuries. Monuments range in size from just a bust and support base to huge state memorials with integrated bronze and granite. The work involved in this project will include conducting an initial condition assessment of each monument, conservation treatment consisting of bronze and stone cleaning, heat-applied waxing of the bronze to bring the bronze to an even and protected lustrous finish., and production of a report including narrative and images describing the conditions found, missing pieces, work performed and recommendations for future treatment and maintenance practices. The work shall commence in fall of 2007 and be concluded no later than July 1, 2008. The estimated magnitude of this project is $100,000 to $200,000. This procurement is a total small business set-aside being conducted as a Request for Proposals, utilizing the Lowest Cost/Technically Acceptable method outlined in FAR 15.101-2. The applicable NAICS code is 711510 with an associated size standard of $6.5 million. This notice is not the solicitation.
