Description

The National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with VAT Incorporated of Woburn, MA to purchase vacuum valves. Sole source determination is based on the following: NIST currently utilizes an interlock system that is designed to operate with VAT valves. NIST requires the valves being purchased to be 100 percent compatible and interchangeable with the current system. VAT is the sole manufacturer and distributor of their equipment. Only VAT valves will ensure the proper operation of the interlock system. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, responses received by July 24, 2006 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
