- The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals from firms to provide consultation and preliminary conceptual design services to assist in defining the principal experiences and exhibit units for a new exhibition tentatively entitled American Enterprise at The National Museum of American History (NMAH), located at 10th and Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. This exhibition will comprise approximately 1,277 square meters (13,750 square feet) and will be located in the east wing of the first floor of the NMAH. A project group has been assembled and charged with the task of managing conceptual planning. NMAH now seeks the services of a team of professional consultants with experience in exhibition design, multimedia design, theatrical presentation, and special effects to collaborate with Museum group members. Together they will explore creative and innovative concepts for presenting exhibition content effectively to varied audiences. The Scope of Work, as is more fully outlined in the formal request for Proposal (RFP), includes three "Add Options" for the selected firm to continue work on later phases of this project. These "Add Options" comprise additional design services needed to complete exhibit design documentation drawings and specifications for exhibit fabrication and installation. The exhibition is tentatively scheduled to open in 2011 The Smithsonian anticipates one (1) firm-fixed price contract will be awarded in August, 2007. The Smithsonian reserves the right to award a contract based on best value. It is anticipated that the selected contractor will provide said services beginning September, 2007. Contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) prior to award. Registration may be accomplished at http://www.ccr2000.com/index.cfm, or 1-888-CCR-2423. Period of performance is six months from notice to proceed for the base contract. The period of performance for the options is negotiable. Prospective offerors (any entity desiring a copy of the solicitation) must provide its complete name, address, point of contact, phone number including area code, email address, and business size. Prospective offerors must provide a written request for the solicitation from the Smithsonian Institution, Office of Contracting, P.O. Box 37012, MRC 1200, Washington, DC 20013-7012, Attn: Thomas Dempsey (fax: 202-633-7308). Prospective offerors will receive a copy of the RFP. The RFP will provide full details and deadlines for submission of offers; however, all Prospective Offerors are encouraged to submit their written requests as early as possible as the deadline for response is anticipated to be August 15, 2007. Offerors will be required to submit technical and cost proposals as set forth in the solicitation.
