Description
NASA/LaRC has a requirement for Laser Diode Array meeting the following functional and operational specifications: Rated Peak Power: 600W Number of Bars: 6 Pitch: 500 micrometers Polarization: TM Maximum Pulse Width: 1000 microseconds Repetition Rate: 10 Hertz Maximum Duty Factor: 1.0% Peak Wavelength: 792 +/- 3nm Maximum Spectral Width: 4.5nm FWHM Minimum Conversion Efficiency: 50% Package Type: Conductivelycooled, designated as S2-GX Operational Temperature: 15 degrees Celsius Expected Lifetime : >2.5 X 10^8 (250 million) pulses with <5% degredation in output power Lasertel Part Number: LT-5500-01-1251; Quantity 10 each Electrical connectors for laser diode arrays shall be provided. Test Data to be delivered with each laser diode array at the following operational parameters: Heatsink temperature 15 deg. celsius Pulsewidth 1000 microsecnond Pulse repetition rate 10 Hz The test data will include but not limited to: 1. Optical power vs. Current 2. Efficiency vs. Current 3. Spectrum Plot at full rated power 4. Diagram showing array mechanical dimensions, electrical, and cooling surfaces and interfaces. NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from LASERTEL,Inc. as they are the only known source that can meet the requirements for the LT-5500-01-1251 equipment. This equipment would take substantial duplication of time and money for another company to offer a similar product that would meet this requirement. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on Jul 2, 2007. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
