- Description
- The Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) was conceived, designed and developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), to support the Administration?s programs that seek to improve motor vehicle safety. Fatal crash data has been collected under FARS since 1975. State employees that are assigned the tasks of gathering, translating, and transmitting the crash data are called FARS Analysts. All FARS Analysts are expected to code each case with a high degree of consistency and conformity to FARS definitions.
