- Description
- The Battle Creek VA Medical Center seeks to provide local Dermatology services to our patients in the Battle Creek and Grand Rapids regions.  The estimated patient load would be 200 per month.  The dermatology services would ideally be provided by Board Certified Dermatologists.  These services may be provided by solo practice or group practice Dermatologists.  All Dermatologists must possess a full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.  The scope of services would encompass those normally provided in an outpatient dermatology setting.  VA patient demographics trend towards older and more male patients that the average outpatient mix.  The most commonly encountered dermatology diagnoses at the Battle Creek VA are:  actinic keratosis, BCC, SCC, nevus, psoriasis, acne, and sebaceous cyst.  The care provided should be on-going with medically appropriate follow-up examinations and care.  A complete report of all medical services provided, including any pathology reports, should be sent to the patient's VA primary care provider.  All payment for services rendered will be paid by the Battle Creek VA Medical Center upon submission of a completed HCFA 1500; payment will occur within 30 days; and, the Dermatologist(s) will agree to look solely to the VA for payment.  As current VA guidelines require all patients to be seen within 30 days of a referral it would be anticipated that the Dermatologist(s) would be able to satisfy this requirement.  VA requirements also mandate peer review to ensure appropriate standard of care and utilization review to ensure proper use of the government's medical resources.  Interested parties should submit a letter of interest to Katherine Young (001C), VA Medical Center, 5600 W Dickman Road, Battle Creek, MI 49015 or by facsimile to 269 223-6069.
