- This project will engage an Architect Engineering firm to provide Contract Drawings, Specifications, Construction Cost Estimate, Engineering Calculations, and subsequent Construction Period Services for the above referenced project, specifically to involve: Five initiatives to mitigate moisture intrusion issues at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical center, including: Replacement of all galvanized waste piping, both active and abandoned above the ceilings and in drywall pipe chases of the 1st and 2nd floors of Building 1 as shown on marked up survey drawings produced by Engineering Service staff. Demolition of abandoned cast iron and copper waste piping above the ceilings and in drywall pipe chases of the 1st and 2nd floors of Building 1 as shown on marked-up survey drawings produced by the Engineering Service staff. An evaluation of the condition of all galvanized waste piping, both active and abandoned, inside block wall pipe chases on the 1st and 2nd floors of Building 1 as shown on marked-up survey drawings produced by the Engineering Staff. The evaluation will conclude whether this piping should be replaced considering the difficulty and expense of replacement. An evaluation of the roof drainage systems for Building 1 and Building 4. The analysis will determine if the existing drainage systems are adequate and what condition they are in. The A/E will make recommendations for additions to or replacements of existing roof drainage components and complete designs for this work. The A/E will consider additional roof scuppers if necessary. Relocation of the main computer network Uninterrupted Power Supply from Building 1, Room 1128 (under the historical front entrance) into Building 7. The relocation will encompass all electrical and computer network connections including new underground conduit installations between Buildings 1 and 7 if necessary. Special care will need to be exercised if computer network shutdowns will be required. The A/E will utilize marked-up survey maps produced by the Engineering Service staff to complete the designs for Items 1a through 1c. The A/E will utilize Engineering and Office of Information and Technology staff as consultants during the entire design process. Contract Drawings, Specifications and Engineering calculations shall supply a complete design to the satisfaction of the VA. The A/E shall provide a detailed construction cost estimate based on the contract drawings and specifications. All designs are to be to VA Design criteria. The A/E design firm must have an active production office within a 400 mile radius of Amarillo, Texas. Submission of SF330's are due NLT 23 May 2007. This solicitation is set-aside for small businesses only. Estimated construction cost is $500,000 - $1,000,000. NOTE: SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS.
