- Description
- The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) has developed a stainless steel that has three times the strength of stainless steels on the market today. The stainless steel also possesses ductility, resistance to high temperatures comparable to nickel based superalloys. INL?s stainless steel is formed through rapid solidification. The approach utilizes nanometer-sized oxide precipitation, nitrogen solid solution, and cold working to produce a superior material. The technology is described in U.S. Patent No. 5,908,486, entitled ?Strengthening of Metallic Alloys with Nanometer-Sized Oxide.? The INL is soliciting interest from qualified industrial firms interested in commercializing this technology. The INL invites interested parties to contact us regarding the details of licensing and implementing this technology into an operation. Interested parties should respond within two months of the date this notice was first posted. For questions regarding the technology, licensing, and working with the INL, please contact Jason Stolworthy. BUSINESS POINT OF CONTACT: Jason C. Stolworthy, J.D., M.S.
