- The 96th Contracting Squadron, Eglin AFB, Florida intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for 4 Inch Copper Cylinders per specifications. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, Subpart 13 and Subpart 19, As supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. The announcement number is F1TBAP7078A001. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 332312 with a size standard of 500 employees. Please identify your business size in your response based upon this standard. This is a full and open 100% Small Business Set Aside. The requirement consists of the following items: CLIN 0001 ? QUANTITY 30 EACH CYCLINDER, 4 Inch COPPER In Accordance with Specifications of: Material: Oxygen Free Electronic Copper (Cu#C10100), 99.99% minimum purity. Dimensions: 4.000?+ / - 0.002? ID 0.400? + / - 0.002? Wall (in other words 2.4? OD) 24.00+/-0.010? Long Straightness: 0.003 TIR Hardness: Rockwell F Hardness not to exceed 50 following rough machining. To achieve the low material hardness, tube must be annealed in non-oxidizing atmosphere. (Three hrs at 350 degrees C or 1.5 hrs at 375 degrees C) Surface Finish: Inside and outside surfaces to have 16 RMS or finer finish and to be electropolished or equivalently chemically cleaned. Prior purchase in 1991 used a Diverlite process to chemically clean the surface. No visible scratches, nicks, or mars on any surface (inside, outside or edge). Packaging: Each tube will be individually wrapped in appropriate material to protect surface finish during shipping and storage. Use: To measure the metal acceleration constant of developmental explosives by detonation of a core explosive charge under highly controlled conditions. The cylinders are highly specialized and require extremely tight tolerances on the inside and outside diameters, the surface polish on inner and outer surfaces, concentricity, all while the material is annealed under a non-oxidizing atmosphere to yield an incredibly soft and ductile material.
