Description
It is the intent of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute for the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) to negotiate with Johns Hopkins University, the Bloomberg School of Public Health, 1101 E. 33rd Street, #C210, Baltimore, MD 21218, to share in the training of Master?s level and doctoral level students in the field of Genetic Counseling. The purpose of this collaboration of training is to advance the knowledge and research in this field of study which would lead to many collaborative interactions and joint scientific research ventures. This training will take place at both Johns Hopkins University (JHU), and at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The period of performance will be March 2007 - March 2008. 1) Students selected will be full time graduate students in the Department of Health Behavior and Society in the Bloomberg School of Public Health at JHU. The Department of Health Behavior and Society will provide the basic formal educational structure for all students within the program. 2) All students regardless of which site at which they conduct their master?s or dissertation research will meet all degree and program requirements by the Bloomberg School of Public Health. 3) The Bloomberg School will maintain long-term commitments to all graduate students for continued guidance, typical of those offered to students in all Bloomberg School of Public Health graduate programs at JHU as long as they remain in good academic standing. 4) The Department of Health, Behavior and Society faculty in conjunction with the NIH will develop courses as necessary that will be of the standard to be approved by appropriate committees at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. 5) The NHGRI Social and Behavioral Research Branch of NIH will continuously track, advise, and provide problem resolution mechanisms to all program students pursuing master?s level or dissertation work at the NIH to ensure that all students have a successful educational experience at NIH. 6) An executive committee of the program including seven (7) NIH faculty members and seven (7) JHU faculty members will provide oversight of the program by monitoring the academic progress of the students, advising students, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and implementing relevant policies, especially those pertaining to clinical performance. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 611310 and the Size Standard is $6.5M. The acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and is exempt from the requirements of FAR part 6, Competition Requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis for consideration in any future requirements.
