FED BIZ OPPS PREP: PRESOLICITATION NOTICE ENTRY FORM Submission Date: __03/08/07______ Response Date: ____ Classification: C - ARCHITECT AND ENGINEERING SERVICE-CONSTRUCTION. Solicitation: ___Sources Sought Subject: Boiler Plant and Heating System Replacement, Milwaukee, WI. Description: Synopsis: The GLAC (Great Lakes Acquisition Center) is soliciting Architectural/Engineering design service for boiler plant and heating system replacement services NAICS Code 541310, for the VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. Work includes all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and supervision necessary to provide construction documents for the replacement of the boiler plant boilers, and heating load system including the following systems but not limited to: Asbestos removal throughout Building 112, steam trestle, Building 45, and connections in building 111; Remove (3) high temperature hot water boilers and associated pumps and equipment; Provide (2) high efficiency water tube steam boilers with economizers and controls. Removing one existing de-aerator and provide (2) new de-aerators, sized for new capacity and redundancy. Provide a new water conditioning system consisting of reverse osmosis, chemical injection and water softeners. Remove existing economizers from existing steam boilers. Provide new economizers on each of the existing steam boilers. Provide a new emergency water reservoir tank system and water supply for all boilers for 48 hours of continuous hours or 50,000 gal tank whichever is greater. Reroute the existing steam piping in Building 45 into the north steam tunnel. Provide a new condensate return system from Building 111 through the existing HTHW tunnel to Building 112, with all associated equipment, items, etc. as required. Remove existing steam trestle. Remove existing hot water to hot water heat exchanges and provide new steam to hot water heat exchangers in MER-1 and MER-2 Building 111, including pumps and necessary support equipment, controls, etc. Provide an emergency supply tank for the condensate return system in Building 111. Connect the new boilers to a common header with the existing steam boilers to be routed to the existing HTHW tunnel. Convert the existing 8" HTHW lines in the existing HTHW line tunnel to a steam line system. This is a firm fixed price contract and this acquisition is advertised as "open market". This is not a Request For Proposal (RFP). NAIC #541310 applies. Contractor must be located within 100 miles of the metro Milwaukee area. Anticipated award effective date is June 29, 2007.
