Description: ARDEC is currently seeking sources of commercially available 40X48 inch pallets with 4-way entry that are contructed from alternate materials such as, non wood lumber or sheet metal pallets for future use with DoD ammunition. Materials are required t o meet International shipping & Military Tactical requirements for rough handling (load weights of 2,500 - 4,000 lbs). The pallet material & design must be able to be integrated into Army munitions packaging systems, without loss/degradation of packaging, shipping performance or adverse impacts on the DoD logistics systems. The pallet material must be capable of passing sequential rough handling test requirements of MIL-STD-1660 (vibration, drop, incline impact testing, etc) at temperature extremes of -65F to +160F. Pallets must survive two year exposure to UV. Interested firms should provide information indicating their capability to produce the proposed material and manufacturing capabilities for pallets.
