- Request For Information THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. ANY INFORMATION REQUESTED DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A CONTRACT. Intent: This RFI is to assess the capability in the local (Bagram Airfield) area for contractors to provide and install pre-fabricated building systems (description of typical system to follow). Buildings would be used for a variety of purposes, including admin, lodging, sanitary, storage, etc. Contractors should be able to provide complete turn-key services, producing construction plans for approval (Government to provide basic floor plan only), procuring all required materials, performing all site-work and construction, and warranting facility when complete. Details: 1. Proposed building system shall be of a type manufactured specifically for use as a modular or pre-fabricated building system. Shipping containers shall not be used. Manufacturer of building system shall have been producing said system for min. 3 years, and shall be able to show 5 examples of facilities completed in Afghanistan or surrounding nations. 2. Building system shall be composed of major building components manufactured at a central location, which are intended to be shipped to the project site and assembled. System shall be modular, i.e. able to be configured into a variety of different floor plans to suit the application. System does not have to be relocatable once it is assembled. 3. Building system shall be composed of steel, fiberglass, industrial-grade plastics, or other substantial building material. Wood will not be used for structural components, but may be used for sheathing, trim, blocking, or similar applications. System shall be capable of withstanding weather conditions found in the Bagram Airfield Afghanistan area (wind, snow load, etc.). 4. Building system should be capable of being installed in a 2-story configuration. 5. Final building system shall be weather-tight, insulated, placed on a concrete foundation, and fitted out as follows: a. Electric: All interior wiring shall be integral to the building system and of commercial grade. Wiring will terminate in an International Electric Code approved exterior breaker box ? connection to BAF power distribution will be by others. Interior wiring devices will be 110V/50Hz unless otherwise specified. b. Heating and air conditioning: Heat and/or air conditioning equipment type will be as specified by BAF. No substitutions will be allowed to approved equipment. c. Plumbing: If requested by project, plumbing will be provided complete, including installation of underground concrete or fiberglass sewage holding tanks, and connection to Government-furnished/contractor-installed plastic potable water tanks. 6.
