Description: SHEEP GRAZING STUDY TO CONTROL NON-NATIVE PLANTS, MINUTE MAN NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK, CONCORD, MASSACHUSETTS, 01742. Solicitation Number Q1820070402. The work of this project will evaluate the effectiveness of sheep in controlling non-native, invasive plants at Minute Man National Historical Park, Middlesex County, Concord, Massachusetts, and will provide approximately 60 acres of additional fields for grazing to a qualified shepherd or grazing outfit. The experimental-grazing portion of the project will evaluate the effectiveness of two grazing regimes (set-stock and rotational), as well as mowing, on the control of invasive woody plants that are destroying natural habitats and cultural landscapes throughout New England. The shepherd will provide all work necessary to manage 20-30 sheep during the two-year study (2007 - 2008) and will have the option of grazing additional fields throughout the Park's Battle Road Unit. Additional fields average three acres and range in size from about seven acres to less than one-half acre. The Government anticipates award of a firm-fixed price contract. First part of study will begin approximately the end of April/1st of May 2007 through October 2007 for a 26 week period. The second part of study will begin approximately the end of April/1st of May 2008 through October 2008 for a 26 week period. Total performance period of is 52 weeks. This solicitation is a 100% set-aside for small business concerns. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 112410 with a small business size standard of $0.75 million dollars. All responsible small business concerns may submit an offer, which shall be considered by this agency.
