Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, Rome NY intends to solicit and negotiate a sole source purchase order under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 with Ralph W. Earl Co., Inc., 5930 E. Molloy Rd, Syracuse, NY 13211-2109, for the purchase of five (5) Caster Kit, Retrofit. Retrofit kit consisting of one set of four leveling caster assemblies with mounts and ratcheting adjustment handles to be inetgrated into existing reconfigurable display module (RDM) frame; each caster height is to be independently adjustable with a stroke range of 2", and must adequately sustain weight of RDM when fully extended; each caster wheel will also have a brake. Information received within 7 days after date of publication of the solicitation will be considered by the Government. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The NAICS code is 811310. SOLE SOURCE JUSTIFICATION: AFRL/IFSB is developing a Reconfiguabel Display Module (RDM) to jsupport a collaboration with NASA Ames Research Center to develop Mantional Airspace System visualization concepts and display technology, but will in turn serve as an AFRL/IF visualization and display system resource. Each RDM provide a virually frameless rigid screen; fully adjustable, folded-optics mirror system; and a 6 degree of freedom projector mounting system. The RDMs have been designed to be a mobile, collapsible frame to allow respositioning in a variety of multi-screen display configurations. The following kit improves upon the current frame procured from Ralph W. Warl Co., Inc. by integrating a set of casters that have independently adjustable height. It will provide a mechanism for an RDM to be accurately leveled while still maintaining its mobility for repositioning. It allows the frame to benefit from the latest design improvements without complete frame replacement. The kit is specifically designed to fit the existing display module frames without compromising its ability to clear a standard 3" doorway when collapsed. The proposed source, Ralph W. Earl Co., Inc., is the only known source that can satisfy the government's requirement for a collapsible display module compatibility and meet our specificiations.
